Winter at Lake Park

Keeley and I took a walk at Lake Park today because it finally warmed up here (we just had 10 days of 3 degree weather). I meant to take pictures of the walk but forgot my camera in the car. So here's a picture of Keeley after our walk. Do you wonder what he's looking at out the window?

It was a wedding photo shoot in the snow! Weird, huh? Only in Wisconsin, right?

And here's a picture of Keeley legs after our walk. When he's all icy like this, he refuses to sit down. I always have to work on de-icing him before I attempt any driving. If Keeley tries to stand while I'm driving he does crazy stuff like jump onto my lap, jump back and forth onto the floor then onto the seat and back onto the floor, etc. This stuff drives me crazy, so I just learned to wait until he was settled before I start driving.

This is our favorite winding road. It goes right through the middle of Lake Park.Keeley usually has to sit in the back seat, but I let him ride in front when it's just the 2 of us.Keeley especially likes to drive along the lake front. Here's a picture of Lake Michigan with downtown Milwaukee in the distance.
Something is just not right about this picture... see Keeley's icy paws got the front seat so wet that I had to sit in the back after we picked up Keeley's grandma from work.

Pampered Pooch

More evidence that Keeley is a pampered pooch: Here he is being spoon-fed by his grandma.

Something Special

I gave Keeley a kind of chew that he's never had before. It's called a Windee and it's made by Jones Natural Chews. It's supposed to be a good source of Chondroitin and Glucosamine.

When Keeley thinks something is really good, he first tries to hide it before he eats it. Usually, he limits this behavior to cookies with frosting, but as soon as I gave him this Windee, he was off and running to find a place to hide it.
First he tried to bury it in the imaginary dirt on his chair in the TV room. Then he buried it in his bed in the stairway. Then he took it up stairs to his grandma's and tried to bury it in the imaginary dirt on her bed. But her bed was made so well with the comforter tucked in, Keeley wasn't satisfied with that hiding spot either. Finally, he buried it in a livingroom chair. Five minutes later, he pounced on it and then ate it all up. 45 minutes of entertainment for only $1.45, not bad... I'll have to buy some more of these Windees, I think.

Keeley's Tongue

I noticed a lot of other pups showing pictures of their tongues. At first I thought, Keeley doesn't ever have his tongue hanging out. And then I started looking through my Keeley pictures and I quickly realized that I was very wrong about that.
Keeley shows his tongue when he's happy....
...when he's exhausted....
...and when he's bored. (He's often bored with me taking pictures of him.)

Bargain Book

Yesterday at Barnes & Noble, I found a book called The Little Big Book of Dogs in the bargain section. It was only $7 and it's got lots of old vintage dog illustrations in it (along with stories, quotes, training tips, and recipes). I bought it for the illustrations; I only wish there were more terriers. It's always impossible to find any Irish Terrier anything, so I usually end up converting Airedales and Wire Foxes into Irish Terriers. I scan the pictures and then modify them in photoshop.

Dog Blogs

I found this saved on my computer at work. I don't know where it came from.

Another Award

This one is from Penny and Poppy. Thank you so much for reading Keeley's blog. Before we joined Dogs With Blogs, we had already been blogging for a while and weren't sure if anyone other than Keeley's grandma was reading it. DWB is pawsome, wouldn't you agree?

Thank you Butchy & Snickers!

Butchy and Snickers gave Keeley this great award. Thank you so much! We're so happy to be your friend and we love reading your blog!Keeley and I would like to pass on this award to Lacylulu, Asta, and Maggie & Mitch. Thanks for being our friends. We really appreciate all the effort you put into your blogs and are super impressed with how you are able to keep current on everyone else's blogs too!

Let's Wrestle!

There's one pillow on my bed that is Keeley's pillow. It's the only one that he's allowed to wrestle. When he gets bored, he'll go onto the bed and wrestle with it.

Weird Things About Keeley

We've been tagged by Izzie to share 7 weird things about Keeley. Here are the rules:

Link to the person that tagged you and post the rules on your blog. Share seven random and/or weird facts about yourself. Tag seven random people at the end of your post, and include links to their blogs. Let each dog know they have been tagged by leaving a notification on their blog.

Here goes:

1.) Keeley only uses three legs to go down the stairs. I guess he developed this habit of not using his left hind leg when it was injured. Even though it's fully healed now, he still doesn't use it for going down stairs.

2.) Keeley loves the mailman. I hear that a lot of dogs don't like mail carriers or other delivery people but Keeley is so social that he's always to happy have someone visit, even if only for a minute or two.

3.) Keeley is literally scared of his own shadow. Since the days are so short at this time of year, it's usually dark by the time I get home. Keeley doesn't get taken for walks much because every little shadow scares him. I try to take him out but we usually don't even get to the end of our block before he wants to run back home.

4.) Keeley has stinky stale popcorn feet. That's how they smell really. The smell seems to intensify as he sleeps. By morning, his little feet can really stink.

5.) I know that Keeley is spoiled (but not rotten) because he thinks that every bag I bring into the house contains something for him.

6.) Keeley hates for anything to be out of place. This really ticks him off. Over the holidays, he got so used to the Christmas tree that when we were getting ready to take it down, he had a fit because the lights on it were unplugged. The only way we could get him to stop barking at it was to plug it back in.

7.) Keeley is a pampered pup. When someone gives him a cheap or low quality treat, he spits it out. Like the biscuit that they give him at the bank drive up window; he never wants that thing and it ends up on the floor of the car.

Well, it seems to me that most of the dogs whose blogs we normally read have already been tagged for this game. This is probably insane of me (since I struggle to keep up with the ones we already read) but I've found 7 new dog bloggers to tag:
1.) Murphey
2.) Bentley & Niko
3.) Steve & Kat
4.) Homer
5.) Roots
6.) Square Face
7.) Kimi
I'm sorry if any of you pups have already been tagged for this game, but even if you have, it's still nice to meet you!

A package for Keeley!

What's this? A package for Keeley?
Keeley is a pro at opening packages!
Keeley, let me see! What is it?
It's from Dory the Labrador. I wonder what Keeley did to deserve this?
Just a lucky pup it seems! Thank you so much for the stuffie, Dory! It was the highlight of Keeley's evening!

Happy New Year!

Keeley spent the first morning of 2008 romping with his best bud, Romare, in Madison.
