Final Kill Count for 2014
Well, being the last day of 2014, I'm going to report on my terriers' kill count for 2014. The final number ended up being 12 critters killed this year by Teagan and Keeley. Actually Teagan is the one who did the actual killing (I think she's at her killing prime right now!) but Keeley gave her an assist on at least 5 of those kills. This year she got 2 squirrels, a woodchuck, 2 opossums, a mouse, a robin, and 5 rabbits. For the most part, I think kids are grosser than dogs. But when I have to clean up dead things, then I think dogs are definitely the grosser of the two!

Sleeping with dogs
I'm not sure if Keeley knows he's a dog. He always wants to sleep right next to me with his head on a pillow like a human. He's only 38 pounds but he sure can hog the bed somehow.

Teagan & The Babies
You may remember that Teagan used to be horribly scared of kids.
During the first 2 years with her, there were talks about giving her up because she couldn't seem to control her aggression.
She just had her 5th Birthday last month and she's really come a long way!
When I first started my daycare 2 years ago, it only took Teagan about a week to adjust to this new reality of having kids around 5 days per week. But she didn't really want to be around them, so she'd often go hide in my bedroom or her crate for most of the day. At the time I thought that was so amazing but I never thought I'd see her doing what she does now.
Now she takes naps on the sofa with 3 babies playing loudly right next to her. They reach for her and she doesn't run away. She lets them crawl right up to her lying on the floor and examine her doggie tags. It's blowing my mind! I'm totally impressed with how mature and calm she's become!

St Pat's & Happy 8th Birthday to Keeley
I got this book called "Hooray for St Patrick's Day!" by Joan Holub from the library for my daycare kids. They loved it. They had to find the leprechaun hiding on each page and it was also a lift-the-flap book. But the best part was that it featured an Irish Terrier dog like Keeley. Here are a few of the IT illustrations from the book. Enjoy & Happy St Patrick's Day (& Keeley's Birthday today too)!
