Keeley's weird growth

I had to take Teagan to the vet to get weighed on Friday so that I could get her the correct dose of Interceptor for heartworm prevention. She weighs 25 pounds now. She's growing up so fast.

Since we were there, I had them give Keeley a nail trim. He hates it. I'd rather pay someone else to do it instead of having him associate it with me. While they were at it, I asked them to please try to remove the tar or gum that was stuck to his hind leg near his foot. Or at least I thought it was tar...

Turns out it's some weird growth. No wonder he didn't like it when I tried to cut it off earlier. It's actually a part of him. And it just figures that it's on his bad leg too.

We've decided to have it removed. If it continues to grow, it could cause Keeley discomfort. Plus it will be more complicated to remove if it gets bigger because of it's placement.

We don't know what it is or if it is benign. After it's removed we're going to send it out for testing.

Keeley's surgery is scheduled for the 18th. He's got an ear infection right now so we have to wait till that's gone.

I'll try to get a picture of it once I figure out where I put my camera.

Aw Keeley... at least they've discovered it and you can get it removed. I recently had a foxtail removed from my paw - wasn't fun, but it's much better now.

Much love,
Bogart
